4Small ripe, firm pears with stems
2tbspLemon juice
400gramsCaster sugar
6Slices of lemon

Instruction to Make Poached Pears
Half-fill a large bowl with cold water. Stir in lemon juice.
Cut the end of the pears so they stand nice then peel the pears, leaving stems on. Add to bowl to stop them from going brown.
Bring 6 cups water, the sugar and lemon slices to boil in a pot. Add pears, reduce heat, cover and simmer 20 to 25 minutes until tender when pierced at the bottom.
